My Experience
I’ve had the privilege of working with numerous different dog breeds and volunteering at a local rescue centre, where I assisted in training dogs that have suffered trauma, including anxiety and reactivity.
I’ve seen first hand how dogs who’ve experienced trauma can be helped with the right approach—one that prioritizes kindness, patience, and positive reinforcement. This passion drives my work every day, and I’m committed to supporting both dogs and their families through each step of their journey.
I have a diploma in Dog behaviour and Counselling, studying with Caroline Clark, with specific modules including canine anxiety and dog reactivity.
I am DBS checked, Insured and Dog First Aid trained.
Philosophy and Approach
I’m deeply passionate about positive, force-free training, using science-backed methods to foster better relationships between dogs and their caregivers. I believe that by understanding how dogs perceive the world—particularly their extraordinary sense of smell (with over 100 million sensory receptors in their noses compared to just 6 million in humans) and their 240-degree vision—we can create training experiences that are both meaningful and effective. By tapping into their natural abilities, we can teach dogs to stay calm, work efficiently, and build a deeper connection with their caregivers.
My aim is to provide an affordable flexible service to directly meet your needs.
My Life and Inspiration
When I’m not working with dogs, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes our 8-year-old Golden Retriever and our 10-year-old Moggie cat. Growing up, dogs were always part of my life—from Spaniels to German Shepherds—and that early exposure shaped my deep understanding and love for these amazing animals.
My working resume includes two decades successfully delivering Forest Schools. This life experience has provided me with a number of skills which are transferable. Yes I can work with children and animals!
As a Level 4 Forest School Trainer I have extensive experience delivering training to school teachers and individual clients to become FS leaders.
As a Level 3 Forest School practitioner I have had the privilege of running sessions for schools and special education groups. I am passionate about helping individuals and families alike.
If you are interested in Forest School and would like a consult, do call me.
Currently, I’m particularly excited about a new project I’m working on—scent training. Dogs’ extraordinary sense of smell is often overlooked, but it’s an incredible tool that can help them stay calm and focused. I believe that by understanding and using their sensory strengths, we can create a more peaceful and fulfilling world for our dogs.
